• Florence Stillwater is the enforcer-in-chief head of House Stillwater, living in the airship port of Autumnbell. The last stop for airships before crossing the Dire Blue for either uncharted portions or the untamed lands, dropping off supplies or foolish adventurers. House Stillwater is one of the noble houses with seats on the duchy's ruling council.
• Although swords are still the order of the day, the invention of Pyrestone has led to the development of firearms which have become a new staple, despite the noise they generate. Florence has agents who use quieter means, but for herself, she carries a double-barrel pistol holstered across.
• Although generally entertaining female lovers, Florence has been with one or two men in order to give birth to children, one daughter and a son, whom she is grooming to expand the family's fortunes. For now, Florence depends on her sister, the witch Maribeth Stillwater, and the Rogue, Penelope Stillwater among others in helping maintain Stillwater influence.
