"They're taking Pris to that flying machine!" Jayne shouted before her sword met against an air marine's. The group had been fighting their way through air marines, getting in the kind of trouble that would bring the heat on any faction. They may have been fighting against the corrupt Count Carlowe, but the men standing between Jayne and Priscilla were in full uniform. She was cutting and shooting her way to get to the launch ramp.
"They hell they do," The Goblin, Klinger Readywrench was near the back while Jayne and Magellan were holding their own against the air marines. Klinger reached into his bag and drew his tubular launcher with a rocket attached the end. The rocket had a bright smiley face painted on the warhead. He aimed it at one of the airship's turbines that kept it at a hover. The rocket launched out with a hiss, leaving a trail of smoke as it arced towards the turbine.
"What the hell did you just do?" Jayne asked before. The rocket struck the turbine on the side and morphed into a great ball of flame whose sheer pressure and heat crushed and melted the turbine, causing the airship to lurch forward and then down at an angle.
"They can't take her away if they don't have an airship," Klinger said.
Notes
- Klinger Readywrench is a Gremlin Tinker and assistant engineer aboard The Sparrow. He was, before being caught up in Captain Jayne's misadventures, a traveler aboard her ship along with his Warmech sidekick, Magellan. Since the adventure, Klinger has helped Engineer Cruise below decks, keeping the Sparrow repaired and skyworthy.
- Lives in Skyspace a crystal sphere where a bright blue, sky-like gas allows for open breathing between planets. The sphere is divided between the oppressive Magocracy of Ilysium and the Free Worlds of Haven and Nightport. Nightport is the home planet of the Gremlins.
- Currently has three weird devices. With money and time, Klinger can invent more devices that act as spells up to 4th level.
