Takumi rolled the flask, his eyes, which were actually a shade of coldest brown rather than actual black, focused on the the bubbling mixture. Arlette was waiting for her shipment of health potions, waiting patiently with her arms crossed over chest but saying nothing.

"Another alchemical ice for the set," Takumi chirped before placing the round flask in its niche as part of a half-dozen to be sold for later.

"Where I'm going, I need potions against diseases and purification tablets, not liquid ice," Arlette said.

"Planning to venture further south?" Takumi asked. He was currently working out of a trading outpost built along the river that separated the Blackgold Jungle from the rest of the region. The immediate river valley was the last remnants of canopy jungle in the north before hitting plain country and the deserts. South of the river was dinosaur infested jungle and swamps.

"I have a line on a few ruins that might still have some things. Interested in joining? Get you out of the trading post," Arlette said.

"I thought you were working with Gabra Zeki?" Takumi asked.

"We're on a break," Arlette said, "I need a new arcanist for my team." 

Notes 

• Takumi Ebonfeathers is a Tengu Alchemist from outside the Atikem River valley located within the Southlands. He is an alchemist drawn to the wilds in search of rare reagents and that usual call that drives many adventurers to leave their homelands.
• His friend, one of the locals to the region, is Arlette Negasi. She is the leader of a local group of adventurers who dwell along the Atikem, but have seen sights from the farming country down into the darkest depths of the Blackgold where death and fortunes have been made. Takumi has acted both as a professional alchemist and an adventuring alchemist at various times.
• In addition to the magical potions he can brew using reagents and craft points, Takumi also knows a number of spell-like elixirs and alterations that he can use in the field called Extracts.
