• Sir Rutger Crowthorn is the Baron of Crowthron under Duchess Beatrice Larcey, whose Duchy encompasses the Eastern Heights that borders the river kingdom of Westmarch. Although there are vast regions of untamed lands, with monsters roaming the woods and moors, a planter class ahs formed in the few settled regions outside of the city.
• Crowthorn is the son of the impetuous Dr. Thorne Crowthorn, who is said to be himself the product of a illicit liaison between one of the few magisters in the family and a fiend from beyond, hence Rutger's skin tone of smoldering mulberry, soft yellow eyes, and pointed canines. Despite his wicked looks, Rutger is still a gentlemen.
• Facing certain debts from his father's gambling and bad investments, Sir Rutger has decided to become an adventurer and the seduce Beatrice Larcey in order to marry her to secure his holdings at Crowthorn. Although he is used to feather beds and fine clothes, Rutger has plans to join a Dwarf's expedition to prospect for gold in the wilds surrounding the region.
