- Barnum is a Troll Merc living in The Dark City in a future of cybernetic augmentation is competing against magic. He lives off the main drag and the Mausoleum Tavern House in the region known as Lower Town where Orks and Trolls tend to congregate.
- Barnum has been contacted by a vampire claiming to be the Master of the City, Hecate the Mistress Moon. Her information network that moves through the sewers of Dark City have stopped talking to her, and she wants to know why. She has hired Barnum to look in on it.
- There is something lurking beneath the streets of the Dark City. Barnum might be a tough Troll, but the situation might be too dangerous even for him.
