Notes
- Herbert Sullivan is a member of the Moon Warden Clan and one of several werewolf clans that inhabit the shadowy island of St. Marvica. He, like the other packs, have announced their intention to rebel and strike at Count Dubrinsky and his vampires. A cold war has turned hot between these factions.
- Moon Wardens are the more pragmatic of the Clans, attempting to maintain the balance between their primal instincts and upholding the virtue of their moon goddess. The agreement between the werewolf chiefs to put aside differences until the vampires are dealt with is tenuous between the more militant Crimson Claws and Fenrir's Brood with only the Moon Warden's alliance with the Sons of Gaia backing moderation.
- This swelling of bestial energy threatens to get between Herbert and Miss Debenham, a local woman whose father rents land from Sullivan's family. Herbert is torn between the Pact of the Clans and his desire to be with Susan.
